We are proud to announce that Smith Horton Law attorney, Courtney Ballard has been selected as a 2018 STANDOUT honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-Charlotte Chapter!
STANDOUT recognizes Charlotte’s most active and engaged professionals and philanthropists under the age of 40, while benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s work to develop means to control and cure cystic fibrosis.
Honorees are nominated by their supervisors and peers and evaluated by the STANDOUT Selection Panel on their business achievements, philanthropic efforts, and leadership abilities. The Selection Panel, comprised of Charlotte area business and civic leaders, scores the pool of nominees to determine the final class of STANDOUT honorees. In receiving the distinction of a STANDOUT, honorees call upon their personal and professional networks to raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its mission to cure the disease.
Beginning in 2016, Courtney joined the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Community Service Committee, a committee that she currently chairs. In this role, Courtney leads a committee of fifteen members tasked with reviewing community service projects submitted to the Mecklenburg County Bar to ensure the projects comply with the Bar’s initiatives.

Lastly, Courtney gives a presentation every six weeks on Wills and Estate Planning for new Habitat for Humanity homeowners through its Homeowner in Process Curriculum.
In addition to Courtney’s philanthropic involvement and leadership roles , Courtney was honored as the 2016-2017 “Young Lawyer of the Year” by the Young Lawyers Division of the Mecklenburg County Bar. And earlier this year, Courtney was named as a “Legal Elite” in the area of criminal defense by the North Carolina Business Journal.
We are proud of all that Courtney has accomplished and the way in which she represents Smith Horton Law in our community. Congratulations Courtney!
